[ROM] ICS for the Mercury M886
[Tutorial] Huawei M886/Mercury Ics Install
I want to warn you before hand, when you update to ics there is no going back from what i can tell. I am unable to boot into "pink" mode, or into the custom recovery i had. I was not rooted when i installed this, and am currently unable to root. Overall the update is still worth it from what i'm seeing.

I've read that by deleting the original dload file you used to update/grade your phone you can return to pink screen.

Disclaimer: Update at your own risk, I do not take responsibility for the damage or bricking of your phone.

Before anything i strongly recommend a full nandroid backup. Never know what might go wrong, better safe then sorry.

This is to install Ics to the Huawei Mercury m886.
While i've read from others that it is not mandatory to have the stock rom installed I went ahead and did it anyways. it ends up having Huawei Mercury Custom Recovery

(i have not found away to get cwm on it yet so install with risk and caution, DO NOT TRY AND REMOVE BLOATWARE THERE IS NO WAY TO RECOVER ANYTHING YET.)
Thanks Duck

This is also not my update, it was uploaded by View Profile: huaweimercuryguru - Cricket Users Forum.

First step is to download the update.

ICS rom update:>> please visit cu located on the bottom of the page till i create a
link without password. thnx duck

in order to unzip you will need either 7-zip, winrar, or another various extraction program capable of unzipping rar files.

Password to unzip is mercury

Just scroll to the bottom where it says "slow download" and select that.

1. After extracting the folder "dload", place it in the sd card.
2. Once the sd card is inserted in the phone, go to system settings Storage Software Upgrade Upgrade via SD card.
3. The upgrade process will take about 20 mins.

DO NOT TURN OFF THE POWER OF YOUR DEVICE DURING THIS UPGRADE!
It will appear to be going very slowly and will reboot multiple times, do NOT panic as this is part of the install procedure. It took my phone approx 20-30 mins to finish installing the entire update. If you get stuck feel free to ask questions. No one wants a broken phone.

Ive Tested and everything and everything works. (Duck)

thanks to wthigon for the link.

Thank you cu user for the thread on the ics rom.
Duck.

Has anyone here installed this yet?
I was reading about it over at CU, and most people like it.

Also, what are the advantages of ICS over GB.

Thanks

Already did that. Thanks.  But will it perform better on the Merc then GB does. Or is it a matter of opinion, based on how you use your phone, like many custom ROM's are.
